Maxwell S
I've been a DJ since I created an unsolicited remix of our school hymn in 2007 and played it to the entire cohort during a student-run assembly.
From that critically acclaimed debut, I became the go-to DJ for high-school house parties and underage nightclubbing.
I was initially influenced by the French Electro scene (Ed Banger Records), Ministry of Sound Compilations, and the art of mash-ups and rough-and-ready mixing (Girl Talk, Yacht Club DJs, Bang Gang DJs, Diplo).
I started buying records in the early 2010s, focusing on 90s Hip-Hop, 80s Disco, and 2000s House. The production of these songs was hugely influential and took me down the rabbit hole of sampling as an artform.
I've shared stages and been listed alongside artists including; Mood II Swing, Palms Trax, Move D, Tom Trago, Tornado Wallace, Baba Stiltz, Kornel Kovacs, Beppe Loda, CC:DISCO!, Jex Opolis, Telephones, Hashman Deejay, CZ Wang, Tom Noble, Person of Interest, DJ Python, Regularfantasy, Flørist, D. Tiffany, Jamie Tiller, Daniel T, Interstellar Funk, Anthony Naples, Cooper Saver, Bianca Lexis, Wax'o Paradiso, Andras, and more.
In Australia I've performed as a DJ in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Hobart, Launceston, and Perth. And internationally in Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka, Istanbul, Berlin, Amsterdam, and London.
The most surreal DJ experience was playing on a 400-person boat party cruising through the Bosphorus in Istanbul, Türkiye. But, in general, I think a house party is always more fun than a club will ever be.
I dabbled in a bit of production and have two releases on vinyl:
Ziyka – ZIYKA001 + Baerlz, DJ Pulp Free & DJ Tiny Ramekin – ΒΕΣΤ004
My alias' include DAYDREAMS, DJ Tiny Ramekin, The Caviar Lounge, and
Sub-Par.
